Earthquakes are caused by the movement between a fault which invovles two rocks to push against eachother and a rapid realease of energy which are called seismic waves.
Epicenters are usually where the earthquake starts and the expands.
Aftershock happen right after a major earthquake.
Foreshock happens before earthquake
Before
1. Checking for hazards
for example, place heavier objects on ground, china in lower closed cab nets, secure shelves, etc.
2. Look for safe places indoors and outdoors
for example, sturdy furniture, away from mirrors, and outdoors, away from phone cords, tree, buildings, etc.
3. Educate yourself and family member
for example, find out what radio station is informative, teach your children where u turn off gas, electricity, and water
4. Disaster Supplies Must Have
- flashlight extra batteries
- extra batteries
- radio
- first-aid kit and manual
- emergency food and water
- can opener
- essential medicine like Tylenol , etc.
- cash and credit card
- sturdy shoes
5. Emergency Communication plan
- Develop plans to get back together if disaster happens
- ask out of state relatives to try to contact everyone to make sure they're okay in natural disaster it easier to contact people that live out of state
